This news release came our way and we hope you find it helpful.
OCEAN PARK, WA—After spending much of the past year hunting down scholarships available to home-schooled students, David Craft realized there was a problem. “There are lots of scholarships available only to those in traditional schools, but none to speak of just for homeschooled students,” he lamented. “When I searched online for ‘homeschool scholarships’ I came up with only a few results, most of which had nothing to do with homeschooling.” Read the rest of this entry »

Letter from HSLDA President Mike Smith
Filed under AnnouncementsJul 1CHOIS received this letter from HSLDA President, Mike Smith.
Dear Homeschool Families:
Many of you have already heard that Sono Harris, wife of Gregg Harris, has been diagnosed with stage four cancer which has thrust the Harris family into a crisis. I recently spoke with Gregg to find out the latest report, and he shared with me that God has been very gracious to Sono and the rest of the family. Sono is weakening daily but has experienced very little pain. Sono speaks of seeing Jesus soon. Although they have not been given any indication as to when she might receive her total healing, Gregg has indicated that it could be any time now. Read the rest of this entry »

While this article pertains to the homeschooling laws of California, CHOIS felt that it was worth sharing.
Retrieved 6/18/10 from http://pheofca.org/Public-Education-Recruiting-in-Hospital.html
Roy Hanson, Jr. – Director
Most homeschoolers would be caught by surprise if they had just admitted their child to the hospital and then were approached by someone with a school enrollment form. Yet this is essentially what happened to one family earlier this year when they had to admit their home-schooled son into Children’s Hospital in San Diego, and stumbled on what appears to be a new kind of trial public school program in that city. Yellowstone Association
Filed under AnnouncementsJun 11CHOIS received this email and we’re passing it along to any who might be interested in an educational Yellowstone Experience.
Hello,
My name is Joe and I work for the Yellowstone Association a non-profit organization based out of Gardiner Montana. The Association is a partner of the park and helps provide funding for Yellowstone National Park. One of the ways is through our Field Institute where we lead educational trips through the park with a Naturalist Guide. The reason that I am contacting you is that we have just recently opened a new facility that is great for groups both small and large. The Yellowstone Overlook Field campus consists of three cabins that are available for participants. Two of the cabins that we offer accommodate up to twelve people and our third cabin is great for families or small groups accommodating up to five people. The cabins are available to groups that are taking a program or class with us. We also provide newly constructed and customizable packages that start and end at the Overlook. Below are some links from the Yellowstone Association and the Yellowstone Overlook Field Campus or YOFC for short.

Hopefully you will find these links helpful. The best way to find out about us or about any of the programs that we offer is to call our Information Specialist Angie. Her phone number is 406-848-2852 and she would be happy to answer any question big or small. You can of course contact me as well if you have questions.
Thank you for your time,

Sono Harris. Gregg has been a long-time Christian homeschool
