Children’s Policy on Young Children Attending with Parents

While we believe that parents can concentrate best on our convention speakers without the distraction of young children present, we recognize that there are some instances where this is not a possibility. We desire to accommodate parents with young children, while not interfering with the enjoyment of parents who have made alternative arrangements for their own young children. The following policy if strictly followed will hopefully be pleasing to all.

  • Children under five years of age may attend the convention with their parents as long as they are quiet and not distracting to our convention attendees.
  • All workshop sessions are taped, and noise severely distorts the quality of the taping. Every workshop will have monitors, and should children become disruptive, the workshop monitors have been instructed to request that parents remove them as soon as possible.
  • Nursing infants are welcome to accompany their mothers to any keynote sessions or workshops that they please.
  • Children are welcome to attend all keynote sessions.
  • In the smaller workshop rooms the policy is as follows: after workshops have begun, and attendees have found their seats, parents with young children may fill the empty seats. We do not want to turn away an adult who wants to hear a workshop because a child is taking up a seat.

In order to fulfill our mission of providing leadership, information and resources for those involved in home education, CHOIS needs the support of Idaho families and businesses. All donations will be used to further this mission and are fully tax-deductible. To donate and join us in bringing homeschooling to other families, please click here.

Exhibit Hall

The convention is a great place to purchase your homeschool curricula and supplies. Many vendors will be displaying the newest and best materials in home education. An Exhibit Hall Only pass is available at the door for free. This pass is valid on Saturday only from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. See the Exhibit Hall page for a complete list of vendors. Businesses that sell products or services designed to meet the needs of homeschooling families are invited to apply for exhibit space during the 2016 CHOIS Convention. There will be a breakfast, lunch and snack provider at the convention and during the Used Curriculum Sale. This concession is a CHOIS Fundraiser, so your purchases support the ongoing ministry of CHOIS. Food may also be purchased from one of the many businesses located nearby, or may be brought from home.


We understand the importance of grandparents in the homeschool process. Non-homeschooling grandparents are always free if they come with their adult children who are registered for the convention. Grandparents who are still homeschooling one or more children of their own must register separately and pay the full admission fee.

We could use your help in telling others about the convention! We will gladly send you extra copies of the Convention Issue of the CHOIS Connection Magazine for you to give to friend or take to your church, library, bookstore or doctor’s waiting room. Parents of Preschoolers

Parents of Preschoolers FREE Admission Policy is intended to reach families before their children are of school age as a positive way to expand and share the vision of home education. To help reach parents of preschoolers, we are offering FREE admission to the convention. This is a great way to invite young families to come to the convention to learn more about parent-led, family-funded, relationship-based home education. If you know someone who meets the following criteria please tell them about this opportunity. To participate:

    • Oldest child must be under five years of age.
    • Must be a first-time attendee to the CHOIS Convention.
    • Must register for the convention prior to May 25, 2016


CHOIS recognizes the value of pastoral support for homeschooling families. We invite non-homeschooling pastors, and their spouses, to attend the convention free of charge as a means to share the vision of home education and to build strong relationships with churches. This offer is extended to pastors who do not teach their own children at home currently, but are interested in learning more about homeschooling. If you are a non-homeschooling pastor, please send a request for free admission on church letterhead along with your registration form. We regret that we are unable to offer scholarships for children and teens.


Keynote sessions and most convention workshops will be reproduced for purchase. Digital recordings may be purchased at the convention or afterward from No personal audio or videotaping is permitted.

Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Early registration is open online from March 1st through May 25th. You may also register through the mail by sending in the downloaded registration form from this site, or a copy of the magazine registration form, with fees. The deadline for registering through the mail is May 20, 2016. Please understand that we have size restrictions on the children’s and teen’s program and the best way to ensure enrollment is to register online early. Once these programs are full we will not be able to accept any more child or teen registrations either online or through the mail. Be advised that if you are registering through the mail that it would be wise to check online first to determine if there is still space available in these programs.

On-Site Registration

After May 25th, registration will only be accepted at the door. The at-the-door admission fee for an individual or married couple is $60.00. It is not possible to register a child or teen at the door.

Volunteers play an integral part in the success of the annual Idaho Homeschool Convention hosted by CHOIS. Our convention is run entirely by volunteers from the convention director to the concession’s staff. Our volunteer workers help keep costs to a minimum while continuing to provide an excellent conference.

We are looking for responsible adults to volunteer in a variety of positions at our convention, including booth hosting, workshop hosts, registration, silent auction and hospitality volunteers. If you would like to be a part of our team, please click on the volunteer menu for more information.
